We're delighted to announce the recent appointment of Steve Danson as General Manager of Rix Renewables, formally BostonRix Wind Ltd.
Steve, who has a background in mechanical engineering, took the position earlier this year.
He has worked in the renewables sector for more than seven years, starting as a balance of plant engineer with Renewable Energy Systems (RES offshore). Steve was then promoted to lead engineer, working as part of the management team on the Lynn and Inner Dowsing offshore wind farm off the coast of Lincolnshire.
He then went on to work as maintenance and production manager and then for the last three years, site manager for Centrica, managing operations and maintenance at Lincs offshore wind farm again off the coast of Lincolnshire.
Steve said that Rix Renewables, formally BostonRix Wind, was leading the way in streamlining support services to the offshore wind industry.
The company, owned by J.R. Rix & Sons, provides strategic assets and services including crew transfer vessels, skilled technicians, and engineers for many aspects of wind farm construction and maintenance projects.
Steve said: “Large wind farm developments require a significant amount of support and that often means multiple contracts with a host of different suppliers.
“As a previous client to that sector over the past seven years, I know the frustrations and expense that are involved with multiple contracts. They are costly and can be very hard to manage.”
“Rix Renewables is the solution to that, we have the combined skills, services and experience of the Rix Group, we can offer a range of services, bespoke to precise requirements, under a single contract. If, for example, an operator wants blade inspections, paint repair works, and a subsea inspection, we can provide these services as part of a single package.”
“This approach saves wind farm operators considerable time and money.”
